Welcome to our latest blog post summarizing the thrilling action of our 2024 Pong On Wheels Spring Ping-Pong league! The finals were played on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at the Rosemeade Rec Center in Carrollton, TX.
The final week of the Winter league generated great excitement and excellent matches in all divisions played. More than 30 players played during 7 weeks in singles competition in the following Divisions: Seniors, Adults and Youth.
Here is a summary of the final matches and highlights of the finals. Let's get started!
Seniors Division:
For the finals in the Seniors Division, players played in a double elimination format to decide the champion of the Spring League. All players showcased their exceptional skills, delivering powerful shots and impressive defensive & offensive moves.
In the end, Lance Rosemore managed to clinch the 1st place in the Seniors Open Division. Bill Witten finished in 2nd place, followed by Hui Chi (Rick) in 3rd place, Mark Roots in 4th place, Miki Snell in 5th place, Dolores Ann Zimmerman in 6th place, Bob Corson in 7th place and Roy George in 8th position.
Adults Division:
The adults Division had 2 Groups. Juan Carlos Meza finished as the league champion in the Adults Open Division, followed by Paul Thompson in 2nd place, and Kishore Yellapragada in 3rd place, while Jonathan Kim ended in 4th place respectively.
In Division B, Justin Johnson finished 1st, followed by Jake Dotson in 2nd place. In 3rd place we had Layton Dai and Nick Gao locked in the 4th place!
Youth Division:
In the Youth Open Division, Rohan Yellapragada secured the 1st spot of the division, followed by Viraaj Vemula in 2nd place, Divyesh Majumdar in 3rd place, and Riya Yellapragada in 4th place.
Most Improved Player: Jake Dotson
All players demonstrated significant improvement week after week as the result of their participation in the league.
After having watched all matches and all players during the 7 weeks of league competition, Pong On Wheels decided to recognized Jake with the 2024 Spring League "Most Improved Player". This distinct recognition reinforced the notable and most improved player of the whole group of participants. Congratulations Jake!
"The league is designed for players of all ages, abilities and skills to compete in a fun and friendly environment. Our ping pong league has become a very popular event among players in North Texas. I was very impressed to see how all players improved their games after 7 weeks of competition! It is very noticeable the great level of sportsmanship and friendship by all players that participated in our recent Spting League! " said Daniel Rutenberg with Pong On Wheels.
This was a friendly, recreational, non-sanctioned table tennis event, where all ages, abilities and skilled players were welcomed to participate!
Once again, we want to THANK YOU very much for your participation in the Spring League. This event is not possible with the help of our volunteers and many others.
