Welcome to our latest blog post summarizing the thrilling action of our 2024 Pong On Wheels May-June Ping-Pong league! The finals were played on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 at the Rosemeade Rec Center in Carrollton, TX.
The final week of the league generated great excitement and excellent matches in all divisions played. More than 30 players played during 6 weeks in singles competition in the following Divisions: Seniors, Adults and Youth.
Here is a summary of the final matches and highlights of the finals. Let's get started!
Seniors Division:
For the finals in the Seniors Division, players played in a double elimination format to decide the champion of the Ping Pong League. All players showcased their exceptional skills, delivering powerful shots and impressive defensive & offensive moves.
Ultimately, Lance Rosemore secured the top spot in the Seniors Open Division as the GOAT. Bill Witten took 2nd place, while Mark Roots came in 3rd. Hui Chi (Rick) claimed the 4th position, followed by Scott Forrest in 5th place, Miki Snell in 6th , and David Liu in 7th.
Adults Division:
In the Adults Division, there were 2 groups. Angel L Lecuona R emerged as the league champion in the Adults Open Division, with Ley Mech coming in 2nd, Michael Hogue in 3rd, and Kashvi Jain in 4th place.
Division B saw Jake Dotson take the top spot, with Henry Castillo coming in 2nd. Justin Johnson secured 3rd place, while Reena Dusad claimed 4th place.
Youth Division:
In the Youth Open Division, Divyesh Majumdar secured the 1st spot of the division, followed by Ishan Saluja in 2nd place, Darwin Mech in 3rd place, and Aamna Periagaram in 4th place.
Most Improved Player: Hui Chi (Rick)
All players demonstrated significant improvement week after week as the result of their participation in the league.
Having observed every match and player throughout the 6-week league competition, Pong On Wheels chose to honor Rick with the title of "Most Improved Player - M.I.P." for the May-June 2024 League. This special acknowledgment highlighted Rick as the standout and most improved player among all participants. Congratulations, Rick!
"The league caters to individuals of diverse ages, abilities, and skill levels, providing a fun and welcoming competitive environment. The ping pong league has gained immense popularity among players in North Texas. I was amazed to witness the significant improvement in all players' performances after six weeks of competition! The exceptional level of sportsmanship and camaraderie displayed by all participants in our recent May-June League was truly remarkable," noted Daniel Rutenberg of Pong On Wheels.
This was a friendly, recreational, non-sanctioned table tennis event, where all ages, abilities and skilled players were welcomed to participate!
Once again, we want to THANK YOU very much for your participation in the May-June League. This event is not possible with the help of our volunteers and many others.
