Welcome to our latest blog post summarizing the thrilling action of our 2024 Pong On Wheels Fall Ping-Pong league! The finals were played on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at the Rosemeade Rec Center in Carrollton, TX.
The final week of the league generated great excitement and excellent matches in all divisions played. More than 30 players played during 8 weeks in singles competition in the following Divisions: Seniors, Adults and Youth.
Here is a summary of the final matches and highlights of the finals. Let's get started!
Seniors Division:
For the finals in the Seniors Division, players played in a double elimination format to decide the champion of the Ping Pong League. All players showcased their exceptional skills, delivering powerful shots and impressive defensive & offensive moves.
In the end, Bill Witten secured the top spot in the Seniors Open Division as Hui Chi (Rick) 2nd place, while Paul Baker came in 3rd. John Wood claimed the 4th position.
Division B: Miki Snell finished 1st; while Forrest Michals ended in 2nd place.
Adults Division:
In the Adults Division, there were 2 groups.
Nicholas Senturia ended as the league champion in the Adults Open Division, with Angel Luis Leucona R coming in 2nd, Ley Mech in 3rd, and Jonathan Kim in 4th place.
Division B saw Henry Castillo take the top spot, with Nick Gao coming in 2nd. Landen Nelson secured 3rd place, while Mary Parakal claimed 4th place.
Youth Division:
In the Youth Open Division, there were 2 groups. Rohan Yellapragada secured the 1st spot of the division, followed by Ishan Saluja in 2nd place, Divyesh Majumdar ended in 3rd, while Tejas Vasanth finished in 4th place.
In the B Division, we had Vihaan Saluja finished in 1st place, followed by Darwin Mech in 2nd, Aamna Periagaram in 3rd, and Peter Varimezov in 4th place.
Most Improved Player: Darwin
All players demonstrated significant improvement week after week as the result of their participation in the league.
Having observed every match and player throughout the 8-week league competition, Pong On Wheels chose to honor Darwin Mech with the title of "Most Improved Player - M.I.P." for the 2024 Fall Ping-Pong League. This special acknowledgment highlighted Darwin as the standout and most improved player among all participants. Congratulations, Darwin!
"The latest league welcomed players of all ages, skill level, and ability, providing an enjoyable and inclusive competitive environment. The ping pong league has gained significant popularity among players in North Texas. I was greatly impressed by the significant improvement in the performance of every player after 8 weeks of competition! The exceptional sportsmanship and camaraderie displayed by all participants in our recent Fall League were truly noteworthy," noted Daniel Rutenberg of Pong On Wheels.
This was a friendly, recreational, non-sanctioned table tennis event, where all ages, abilities and skilled players were welcomed to participate!
